Venue: Biometrics in the Bay of Islands is the 2023 conference for the Australasian Region of the International Biometrics Society (IBS-AR). The conference will take place at Copthorne Hotel and Resort Bay of Islands, Waitangi, NZ from Monday, November 27–Friday, 1 December, 2023. All keynote sessions will be held in Treaty Room 1. After the keynote sessions, Treaty Room 1 will be divided into Treaty Room 1 and Treaty Room 2 which will be used for the contributed sessions. The Copthorne Hotel is located at 1 Tau Henare Drive, Waitangi.
Welcome Reception: There will be a Welcome Reception Barbecue, held (weather permitting) in the courtyard of the Garden Restaurant at the hotel at 1800 hours, on Monday the 27th.
Conference Dinner: The conference dinner will also be held in the Garden Restaurant from 1800–2200 on Thursday the 30th of November, 2023.
Session Chairs: Session chairs for the keynote talks have been arranged. In all other sessions, the session chair will be the last speaker of that session. Speakers should aim to talk for 20–22 minutes, and allow for a couple of questions at most. Please try and stick to the times so that people can move between rooms easily.
Questions: Remember that if you have a question for a speaker:
- It should be a question not a statement.
- It should be about the talk and not about you.
- It should be short.
- If you really think the speaker is wrong, then it might be better to talk to them when they are off-stage.
- To please be respectful.
- And finally, that James hates most questions, so think before you ask :-)
