On the final conference day Daisy Shepherd and Louise McMillan were announced as joint student talk award winners and Anna Norberg was the student poster award winner.
As reported in the IBS-AR newsletter (February 2012), the Australasian Region of the International Biometric Society created an award called the ALF award, named after E.A. (Alf) Cornish who was the first (vice-) president of the Australasian Region, from 1948-1950, and IBS President during 1956-1957. More information about his career is here.
The award is for recognition of a member in the Australasian Region who has given "longtime" service to the Biometric Society and to the advancement of biometry.
In 2015 the two most recent awardees, Kaye Basford and Brian Cullis, were announced by Ross Darnell, President, at the regional conference (Biometrics by the Harbour) dinner on Wednesday 2 December, 2015.
